About Us

Mike walking horses under covered bridge with canoes going down the riverMy wife and I started out to buy two good gaited riding horses for ourselves to ride. Then we decided with three children and nine grandchildren we would like to have four good horses. We bought four gaited horses from Bailey’s Walking after Midnight Farm in Virginia. We chose two Tennessee Walkers named Buddy and Black Magic and two Spotted Saddle horses named Gus and Little Joe. Then in the middle of the snowiest winter we’ve had in a while, we hired some local men with construction experience and started building a barn. Before it was even completed though, we found a group of four horses from Beallsville, Ohio that was being sold at a really good price. We added Lady, Paint, Tough, and Baby to our herd. These four horses are not gaited but are still really nice horses. Our plan of having two horses was now a herd of eight without a barn to call home. Despite the cold weather and deep snow, my hard working crew and I got the barn finished and finally got the horses home.

After enjoying our horses for a while we realized that there was nothing in our area to offer other people this same kind of enjoyment. We decided then that we would offer our horses to the public. Kids and inexperienced people can learn all about horses and how to ride them. The experienced people can ride our horses and enjoy our trails.

We have two 45-60 minute trails right now. Both trails cost $20. Our main trail takes you through pasture fields and woods, up and down hills, beside the creek, under and across a steel bridge, and has a 15’ wide 1’ deep creek crossing. Our second trail takes you on a gravel township road and will also be used when the ground is too wet on the main trail to ensure the horses’ footing. This trail takes you up and down hills and has spectacular views of the valley below and other surrounding hills. You can literally see for miles so have your cameras ready.

Due to being our first year and our horses first year, we require people with no experience to ride in our training area under the supervision of our staff before going out on the trails. We must do this for the rider’s own safety and also for the safety of the horses. We are only charging $5 per 15 minutes to do this. You can ride up to an hour at a time though, which would be $20.  Due to insurance policies, children under 7 are not allowed to ride the horses. However, we will let these children sit on the horses if you want to take their picture and they can pet the horses because we don’t want them to feel left out.

Reservations are recommended.
